A new discovery this month for Android (probably also for IOS). Portable light pollution map.

Download KMZ light pollution file.
Install KMZL to Earth and Google Earth apps on your smart phone.
Hey presto. Open the light pollution map as an overlay to Google Earth map.

Neat.

:D

I'm not a fan of the AVEX methodology.  It takes the light visible on satellite maps and that arbitrarily re-assigns it back to it's supposed origin i.e. population centres and roads.

When you compare it back to the satellite image you find that the AVEX map has completely missed some light pollution sources i.e. some villages (with street lighting) are completely black on AVEX and for instance Dungeness power station (a notable source of light pollution) is suspiciously absent because no-one actually lives there.

To his credit, the author admits as much here (in broken English):
QuoteAnytime, urbanization datas I have are relatively incomplete, missing some small villages that have _after checking_ urban lighting! So, in rural areas, some sources of light pollution are not on maps. I'm sorry but right now I have no way to do otherwise.
