Sue

Is anyone else going to Kelling next weekend? I know, clashes with the DSC but we booked before we left last year in the hope that the weather couldn't possibly be so rotten again!

MarkS

Yes.  Mark Fay Duncan Julian.  See you there.

MarkH

I can't make either next weekend guys ... big occasion  ;) Hope you all have good fun, clear skies and eyes skywards  :P :cheesy:

Sue

We are travelling up on Wednesday and swapping the car for a camper van on the on the way : ) Just a trial run to see what it is like...... yes, I know, going soft !!!

Thanks for your good wishes Mark H. Hope the weekend a good one for you too, and perhaps see you at a DSC later in the year.

Mmmm cheers Sue, is it your first time in a camper? If so take a small spirit level and make sure it has ramps. And if it's a high top beware those low bridges, biggest mistake for first timers, have fun. :P

It is healthier to be mutton dressed as lamb, than mutton dressed as mutton!

Mike

I won't be at either DSC or Kelling this month as Petra and I are off on a mini-break.

Have fun!

Wishing you and Petra a relaxing time away. No doubt somewhere warmer and more comfortable than a frozen field in southern/eastern England ;)

Carole

I'm not going to this Kelling Sue due to a diary clash.

Sue we have decided to have a few days away in Crimea as it's very cheap there right now.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it to Kelling Heath this weekend.  I was hoping to make it up there today but still have a few problems with the van and am gutted I'm not going to be able to make it.    Hope everyone there has a great weekend.

How are the skies at Kelling?   Is the camper van working out Sue?

Mike,

Can you get me one of those Ukrainian soldiers hats, as the winds that took Mark's roof off also blew away my garden umbrella, and one of those would be an ideal replacement, anyway its not as thought they need them as they will all be getting new Russian uniforms.

Friday night was cloudy and Saturday night was very murky and windy so the imaging conditions were not good.  Having said that, the SQM reading at zenith was 21.2 which is pretty good.  It just goes to prove that a dark sky is not necessarily a transparent sky.  Quite a lot of light pollution near the horizon because of the moisture in the air.

Weather during the day was a mixture of hazy sunshine and blue sky.  Great for sitting around, drinking wine and chatting.   Oh, and also for buying stuff from the trade stands :-)
