I reprocessed this image, yesterday, as I was not happy with the original. It is the one in the 2010 calendar. 18x300 secs, no darks or flats, modified Canon 350D taken 220209, ED80, possibly a DSC.

Fay I don't know why you were not happy with the original it is one of my favourite society images and one I often show friends as an example of the wonderful images being produced by the members.

However having seen the new process, it is even better, perhaps you are right that the first one was perhaps slightly too bright and obscuring some of the detail.

Well done.  I remember you taking this, it was at the last DSC I came to in February 2009 (can't believe it was so long ago), not managed once since due to broken shoulder, clashing commitments or the weather.

Fay,

Great image, and I think an improvement on the one in the calendar, definately more detail showing....................

We are not often satisfied with what we have done. When we get duff weather etc, it is a time to have another look & practice processing etc.

Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder & we all have different opinons as to if it is pleasing, or not. Thanks Carole. I am still not happy with parts of it, so will blaze on!!!!!

Tony, what do you mean where has August gone?

Looks excellent to me Fay - perhaps you could link to original so I can see changes/ improvements... Also any chance of full size image?

Thks,  John

Have to agree with John, it looks really nice.  Good star colours and it's a very interesting subject.  If I was to be picky there are a few red blotches but other than that it's a really bootiful image.

Would you consider improving it even more by adding extra subs ?

Well I did not think you would all like it that much, thanks. I have had another go today to see what else I could do with it. No darks or flats which is probably why it may be a bit blotchy. I would not bother to add, but would have another go with all the trimmings!!

Both excellent but I prefer the colouring of the original and the sharpness of the latest.
