BAA circular re: Light polution

PUBLICATION OF REPORT - Light Pollution and Astronomy

The Science and Technology Committee will publish its Seventh Report of
Session 2002B03, Light Pollution and Astronomy (HC 747), at 1200 noon on
Monday 6 October 2003.

The Report examines the growth of light pollution in the UK and the effect it
has had on professional and amateur astronomy.

Members of the Committee will be holding press conferences at various
locations. Members of the press and interested parties are invited to attend.

Monday 6 October.

2. Under the terms of Standing Order No. 152 the Committee is empowered
to examine the "expenditure, policy and administration of the Office of
Science and Technology and its associated public bodies". The Committee was
appointed on 12 November 2001.

3. The inquiry into Light Pollution and Astronomy was announced on 4
February 2003. See press notice no. 15.

4. The Committee took oral evidence on Monday 9 June and Monday 14 July
2003. The Minutes of Evidence are published with this Report.
