A Cheaper Observatory
« on: Jan 13, 2008, 11:17:30 »
I heard some of you guys discussing the price of an observatory recently and the figure of £1800 was mentioned along with a few "ouches".

I just found this on the web at £850.

Looks like a shed with a roll off roof.... I'm sure if you went the DIY route you could get a decent obsy for a fraction of this price....

Chris what was your total outlay on 'the Beehive'.....?

The shed was £224 metal one, the wood and screws etc we're about £140, the pier was £450 (it's called King Dong) the concrete was about £200 yes its a 1.5 meter square lump and 12" thick base.

Whats that then £1,010 something like that?

Oh yes and all the kit to go in it, I recon you could build it in a weekend after the concrete had dried, I made some cockups with mine so if anyone need some help with planning there I'll help.
