Astrofarm Milky Way

I've just realised I have a Milky Way image I forgot to post here and forgot to add to my website



It was taken at Astrofarm (France) in May last year with the Sony A7S using either a 35mm or 50mm Nikon lens at either f/5.6 or f/8 (it's not in the EXIF because the lens is an ancient beast)

What I do know is that it was 25x30sec at ISO 10000.

It's a shame that the Antares/Rho Ophiuchi region is chopped off.

Beautiful image I remember this well, must have seen it on Facebook or something as I recall it being shown in the Observing Report but it never appeared on the forum, I guess Doug must have got it from there too.

I think if it had been posted on here it would have been picked for the calendar instead of mine, so will include it in the selection for 2019.

It's a shame that the Antares/Rho Ophiuchi region is chopped off.

I was thinking the same thing.

That's a lovely pic Mark. Did you use a StarAdventurer?

It was the iOptron SkyTracker.  The image was taken from the other field - the one adjoining the gite - it had a better southern horizon.

I've done a plate solve on the image and established it was the 50mm lens.  I should have made notes at the time

This year I captured 18 Milky Way mosaic panes with the same 50mm lens.  It's part of my multi year "complete Milky Way" project.  One caveat:  only the bit visible from Europe!  It will be weeks before I get a chance to process it.  There are 3 other imaging projects taking priority
