Having learnt a few more post-processing techniques, I have been having a "go" at improving the post-processing of a few images.

This is the Eastern veil Close up originally processed and captured in July 2014

Eastern Veil IC1340
Bicolour Ha, Oiii, Oiii
Atik314, Skywatcher ED120
9 x 1200secs each filter

Well, that is certainly a major improvement for that image. Are you going to share the technique?

Thanks Mike.
QuoteAre you going to share the technique?

Mainly star reduction techniques, (changed the colour a bit in selective colour) and then Smart Sharpening on a lower layer and then isolating the stars on the upper layer so you can rub out the nebula revealing the sharpened layer below without sharpening the stars as well.

Carole, does look better but are all those bits real or artifacts introduced because of the processing - all those honey-comb/ lightning shaped bits look a bit weird - never seen this before in veil. John

To be honest John I wasn't sure myself whether it was artifact or something I had not revealed before, I have found at least two other images that have a similar effect.

It's on Astrobin so see what feedback I get from there.
