Image date, time and location:   2015-04-06 21:35:40 UTC
Telescope aperture and focal ratio:   Meade LX90 8" at f25, PierroAstro ADC, 2x ED Barlow
Camera and filters used:   QHY5L-IIc c/w IR filter, Ostara Moon and Skyglow
Processing applied:   EZPlanetary, PIPP, AutoStakkert2!, Registax, JASC Animation Workshop.
Dimensions:   640 x 352 pixels

Captured as RAW using EZPlanetary at 640x480 48fps, this is first light for my new QHY5L-II colour (thanks to Tan14  ;)). I got this to replace my venerable SPC900NC. This is full scale, cropped and debayered in PIPP. Should have checked the collimation first but I am very happy with the detail I got on my first outing. The blurry frames are where I only captured 50 frames on the AVI - EZPlanetary isn't easy! The rest are 50% of 1000 frames (PIPP selected).

Very good!

The sharpest frames have some excellent detail in them and I love Europa's and Io's dance!

Carole

That's definitely your best Jupiter Duncan.

Are you going to make a "still" out of the best AVIs?

Carole

The Thing

Thanks Carole (and Mark), I will do a still but I'm just about to go out and do some more captures AFTER collimating my scope, so may be there will be something even better tomorrow :)

Looks superb Duncan.  Would also love to see a stack of best individual frames... looks like there is some really fine detail in there. Colour is looking good as well...

John.

Very nice Duncan
you just got the red spot as well as the dancing moons.
I would like to get the QHY5L colour but the big white dust bin (camper van) has other ideas.
