Well it will be the final one this year and the weather forecast so far is *Insert lucky guess here*
Who's up for it ?
I'll contact Jackie Sunday or Monday
Yeah i'm planning on coming. Even if the weather is dodgy.
me also if weather looks ok. I will be setting off on the tuesday
So another OAS meeting you'll be missing :-?
I suppose you'll be secretly meeting your new Keilder and Kelling friends
i was joking about the tuesday :o
:P
QuoteI suppose you'll be secretly meeting your new Keilder and Kelling friends
Yeah i'm planning on going. :P
julian
I'll be there, geared up for whatever the weather may bring - hopefully cold, dry and clear to keep the cider cool and the snacks crisp!
Touche! Julian very funny
Fay,
Is there some meaning to all your new meeting places and new friends, as there seems to be a pattern forming, KELLING and KEILDER, and was wondering if there was a sky camp at Knockholt, and with your interests in faeries and GRAND WIZARDS was this anything to do with the actual people you meet, in dark isolated places, miles from ordinary citizens and CHURCHES. ;)
Tony G
well there were a few sacrifices going on & naked people cavorting around in the dark, but nothing out of the ordinary
I'll be there Friday and Saturday night, bringing a Solar Wedge as well as some booze!
Would bring me new newt if the focuser had arrived!
Have rung Jackie to book me in, but she says no one has contacted her regarding the weekend. The grass is long & wet, but even though it is off season she cant see a problem. Mick can you ring her?
Fay
Well you have a 4x4 and I do so were ok.
Yes but as the park is closed, she has to know if to exspect anyone out of season. She has not heard from Mick or anyone else
I'm already a member of their special "out of season" club.
I joined last Nov when I was the sole person to attend DSC.
Sadly we cannot get down to this one as will be visiting eldest son in Southampton.
Wishing you clear skies folks!
After the awful wet weather at Salisbury I can't face another winter camp just at the moment, so will opt out of this one.
Carole
I've sent email and will ring in the morning.
If you're going, give Rother a ring

I emailed not phoned....
:unwell:
Ditto
Just had reply
Grass is long and damp and tree cutting all day saturday.
I still think it's worth trying
Any thoughts ?
At the moment the forecast is for clear on Friday and Sunday night so I think it is definitely worth it.
Jackie says I might have trouble getting up the hill to the corner, could be an opportunity to have a look South
Well if the camp is closed then we can go wherever we want in the field surely?
All we need is to be close enough to the hook-ups. I've got a long hook-up extension cable so we wouldn't need to be right next to them.
Just what I was thinking
Well if they are burning trees I won't be there, hey how about Blacklands!
cutting trees, have they mentioned burning as well?
No mention of burning, but I'd assume they are not going to be up all night burning wood.
Blacklands is a possibility -
Any thoughts ?
in this instance , personaly, i prefer Rother, as it is for two nights & Blacklands is a long way for me for just two nights. See what everyone else has to say
Fay it is only a further 6 miles to Blacklands.
Though I personally prefer Rother too as they sky is better, plus there are lights on the toilet blocks at Blacklands.
I'm happy to use Blacklands if the weather is bad and it is a last resort.
Fay,
From where you live, it is less than 3 miles (2.9m) difference in the distance, and most of that is M23 which is a pretty good road to travel.
And a nicer toilet block, that the hot water doesn't run out when you are fully lathered. :o
Tony G
the water nearly run out on me at Rother, the other month, as I had put the money in the slot & was waiting for the water, when I realised I was in the wrong shower & the water was on in another one........panic stations to get into the correct one & do all before my 20p ran out!!!!!!!!
message from Jackie. No burning going on. Wood chipper being used down by the storage area where you go in & the top of the field is ok for Mick to go on.
Fay
Thanks for that Fay, perhaps Jackie was just being a bit cautious
Please can someone take a battery tester with them. When I was in a panic over my duff flats panel, I got all my AA batteries muddled & don't know which are the new ones & which are the old.
Thanks a lot
That's easy, the ones that don't work will be the flat batteries ;)
I'll try and remember to pack my multimeter.

AA batts? My flat panel runs on 12v. Easy.
oh will have to check that out Duncan. Although I have a new one coming, but will still use the old adapter for my little 4x4 panel
Thanks Mike
I will have testers and chargers.
Looks like the forecast for both Friday and Sunday nights is clear.

Just trying to picture this, were you stripped off waiting for the water to come out and then had to run into the next cubicle in the nude? :cheesy:
Got it in one, Carol!!!
What time are folks arriving tomorrow?

Oh Perleassssse I was just about to have dinner :o
Mark, I'll be there about noonish
11-12
I'll be there about 9pm :( :(
14:00 ish.
I'm hoping to get down before it gets dark.
I'll arrive sometime between 12 and 2. It depends how organised I am tomorrow.
Nice sunny day today (Friday) !
Was expecting you at the meeting last night Mark.
I'm annoyed I missed it - our kitchen was being finished off.
Ahh yes the new kitchen. How is it going?
Well if the Indian is open I might indulge in a couple of Cobra's and a Currey!
Jackie says gate will be closed at 6pm. You can go through pedestrian entrance then open gate to get car through. But please shut gate behind you. It prevents Indian restaurant punters entering the site.
Well I'm still doing staff reviews with the good old USA!
Grrrr
:ferret:
Well at least you have a job!
Had very clear sky from midnight to 3am with an SQM-L reading of 20.9 which is the darkest I have recorded.
Good - did you actually image????
Sunday still looking good.

Yes but it got in the way of a couple of beers and some nosh!
Just walking the dog then I'll be on my way....
When Doug and I got home from our Friday visit, the skies at Farborough were very clear.... no cloud. We hope that your skies were clear as well. Sorry we couldn`t stay longer but we got a bit cold, so hot tea was needed.
Rose
You were wrapped up like eskimos and STILL got cold?!
Blowing a gale and cloudy :(
A few clear patches that last about a minute but sky really clear in those patches.
So it's just beer and bed tonight
Fingers crossed for tomorrow mate. Looks like it might be good.
I think everyone's buggering off home tomorrow - bummer :(
You on your own now then?
It's nice to be in the warm with rooms that don't wobble when the wind blows
The weather gods had one last treat before leaving Rother...................
It pissed down - Then Rainbows - Then a Double Rainbow.
