Not overly impressed with this, but given my circumstances (re my problem thread), the time of year, my location and probably don't have the best kit for it, even with more data I am not sure I will achieve much more unless I can get longer subs (guiding problems permitting).
Next time I am going to use the ED120 and concentrate on a bit of the veil in the hope I might get more detail.

Ha, Oiii, Oiii
Atik314L, WOZS71 & focal reducer

Because of the guiding problems, I did a mixture of 900, 600 & 300 secs on the Oiii totalling 80 minutes, Ha 4 x 900secs (still scratching my head on this, as sometimes the guiding works OK and sometimes it doesn't without changing anything).

Fay

well at least you are out there, keeping familiar with it all. you will be well ready by the time the darker evenings arrive

Really need to sort my guiding problems out though Fay as I think I need longer subs. I never used to have these problems.  I am thinking of going back to using the ST80 provided my QHY5 hasn't welded itself to the finder guider adapter and I can find my 2" extension piece.

carole, i think where we live, it is so difficult to  do colour. i know you prefer it, and I do too, for a lot of subjects, but it takes an age, to do, and you used to do some very nice pics with your DSLR. if we lived in a good place, with a good sky and, an obsy, things would be so different

Good start Carole !  If I was being picky (hope you don't mind) then it looks a tad defocused to me - how did you obtain focus ?

Yes I thought it might have been too.  It's probably due to that problem I spoke about in my other thread, where the camera slipped down the draw tube.  Although I re-did the Oiii it's possible it had started to slip while the Ha was being done.

Usual method, Bahtinov Mask.

Very nice result Carole.  It's a perfect target for narrowband imaging.

The highlights look a bit too bright for my preference but I'm only being picky.

Well done.

Thanks Mark,

I really don't like mono images Fay, to me they just look unfinished and in my opinion flat and uninteresting (we all have our preferences).  Yes colour does take an age I find it a real chore.  Life was so much easier with a DSLR but unless you have special skills and kit like Mark I find it limiting.  Having said that I am planning to get my next object with my DSLR (at a dark site) as I think it will take forever to get in LRGB as it probably needs a mosaic.

I have more or less decided that unless it's a bright object I am going to stick to narrowband at home and LRGB at dark sites.

Definitely the right approach!
