They are back in stock again.  I was looking on Modern Astronomy site as I want to get one for DSC to save having to de-rig the NEQ6 every time and then have to re-align it all - plus it's jolly heavy.
(I don't normally have any problem re-aligning the mount, but this time it took me several clear nights to get it right and we have not had many of those so it's taken me several months!!!) Sp after all that and getting it nicely aligned with Alignmaster I really don't want to move it again.

I noticed Bern still has the Syntrek on his website so I asked him about it (especially since I have a synscan handset for the NEQ6 and am using EQMod now anyway, seems daft to spend a further £130 odd).  I was expecting him to say it's out of stock as it has been for some time, but to my surprise he rang OVL and they are back in stock.

So I have ordered one............... N.B.  I didn't get it at Astrofest  :cheesy:

Wouldn't it have been cheaper ordering it from FLO at Astrofest ?

Carole

I didn't think FLO attended Astrofest, especially being based in Devon.

You get a good service from Bern and FLO's website said out of stock anyway.  Wanted to snap it up while the going was good in case there were limited available.

Mine came today...really chuffed. I did go with the Syntrek as I already have the handpiece, I'm also going to use EQmod...well if I can work it all out?!

Think I'll have really jinxed the weather now with all this kit! Received my 80ED pro yesterday too.......it's like Christmas!!! :D

I used Rother Valley Optics...fab service with free next day delivery with Fedex  :D

I've used them before too.  They don't seem to stock that much but I agree it's an excellent service.  FLO(on the Optical Vision stand) are good until you want to contact them and then it can become a real palava.  I don't deal with Bern as I didn't get a good service.

My HEQ5 was ordered yesterday and arrived 10.30am today via Fedex.

Bern in my experience does give an excellent service and has helped me out a few times by letting me collect stuff from his house when I needed something urgently (on the way to an astro camp).  Also when I wasn't sure of fittings and took cameras etc to actually try adapters - even got a cup of tea.

I've used Rother Valley optics and bought my original NEQ6 from FLO and got a good follow up service from them too, but I agree they are difficult to get hold of, whereas Bern is on the end of the phone and very prompt at replying.

I'd also recommend Ian King, lots of good advice, and even let me try something out once (spacer) and said if it didn't do the job I could send it back and get a refund.  As it happened it was the wrong fitting anyway and he was as good as his word.  Also tipped me off about an Atik deal at Astrofest once even knowing he would lose a sale by doing so.

Glad you managed to get the Syntrek Kylee.

Well the weather can't get any worse, so might as well get it all now.

Didn't realise FLO were on the Optical Vision stand.

It certainly is.
Incessant rain and strong winds.  :(

There is that...I agree! Just thought it was best to get the kit while the weather couldn't possibly get any worse!!

Just a shame I can't use it
