Well first light from West Sussex anyway.

Now that i've finally got some spare time on my hands.Cant be bothered to unpack that last box.
I managed to get some images during the perseids, which i've sort of half heartily processed.

Nikon D3 plonked in the middle of the lawn, unguided. 24mm f4.5 30 secs iso 6400 :o SINGLE IMAGES. i.e. not stacked ;).
Cropped, slight colour adjustment to loose gradient, and thats it. oh and some unsharp mask. ;)
I know they are noisy, but they are not that noisy, but hey ho.

Looks good. You obviously have a decent sky down there.

So when are you inviting us all down for an imaging session at your house?  ;)

Looks like a very impressive start for just 30 seconds at f/4.5.  I'm looking forward to seeing the stacked version with more detail.

It is healthier to be mutton dressed as lamb, than mutton dressed as mutton!

QuoteISO 6400!!!!!!!!

Yup, thats the beauty of the D3, it has a very very noise free iso range.

upto 1600 there is no noise!!!

3200 has a small amount of noise

6400 has a little bit more

The image has noise, but is comparable to images taken at about iso 800 on other cameras.

when i push the D3 to 12800 & 25600, then the images become very noisy, and probably not usable, well not for night images anyway.
but you never know, might try and see what happens.

You've had the camera a while now - it's about time you got it modded  ;)
