Fay, there's nothing like a decent pair of stilsons:

I have 14" stilsons and a mole wrench you can borrow if that helps, be careful though I don't want them all bent or broken.

The filter wheel is sitting on ice at the moment, next to the rubber glove!!!!!!!!! Waiting for my tool delivery.......hope it's quick

Have you tried lubricated the threads?  It might prevent it becoming quite to locked next time.

I think black boot polish, a small touch, or silicon grease works, but an absolute minimum, and dont get it on the optics.
