Bubble and M52

It wasn't very good last night after starting off very promising so this didn't get as many subs as it needed.  One day I'll manage to get an imaging sequence unbroken by clouds or mishaps.  Ended up pushing the processing more than I wanted to bring out the fainter nebulosity.

8 x 300s Sky 90 at f/4.5 and SXV-H9 binned 1x1 and Astronomik 13nm Ha filter



Also caught a Perseid on one of a set of 60 second subs:

well that's much better, lovely round stars (collimation worked) and it actually look 3d, very good, id be happy with that, but annoyed at that cloud that came in

yep Robert that is pretty darn excellent - shame about cloud though kinda gives it a 'milky appearance'.

Thanks.  Collimation is still a tad out so will get it more precise for next time, likewise for Polar alignment so 6/10...

John,  I excluded the cloudy subs and on with the 747 so that 'milky appearance is just nebulosity (I think !).

That streak looks a lot more like (say) an Irridium flare than a meteor. It tails off both before and after the bright point, and the apparent brightness profile is near enough symmetric.

Anyone else got any Irridium flare photos with which we could compare it, or is this a first?

I've also seen meteor pics like that. They skip off the atmosphere or something breaks off and flares up.

Must admit it does look very similar to Iridium flare pics on the web so it could be.  If it helps track it down the exposure was 60 seconds and the timestamp on the image was:

Can't find any likely candidates with Starry Night. The predictions I ran show very few possible candidates for that time, and I've no idea whether any tracks went anywhere near the area. These are all the ones anywhere near that time:

I've seen a meteor like that you tube one over abbey wood years ago, it was glowing bright green and was in broad daylight!

Just finished processing the extra 24 x 1 min subs making a total of 64 mins.  It has more detail an I think it's slightly better ?

When I was about 9 years old I saw bright green ones in broad daylight too over the river mersey.
