This time Alderamin.
Managed 50 x 10s subs(No Guiding) before the clouds came in.

And the graph with Hydrogen Balmer reference emission lines overlayed.

Not something I know much about in a practical way, but seems to be a good spectrograph.  Does this type give fraunhofer lines as well?

Mark did a bit of spectroscopy so he might be interested in this.

Where the overlaying lines arein the graph where the Fraunhofer lines are , the dips in the graph.

Really good Roger 👍

We saw your spectrum on the zoom last night and have come to look here. It is amazing ! Have often thought about giving spectroscopy a go but not ventured further so far.

Sue and Roy.

Mac

very interesting,

Have you thought about measuring the spectrum of a galaxy (not in our local cluster)
and then trying to calculate the distance using its redshift?

Could be a fun project to try.

Mac.
Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
If you argue with an idiot, there are two idiots.

Apophis

Thanks Sue and Roy , Mac i am nowhere near enough brainy enough to work out redshift!!

Redshift is easy, its just the displacement of the fraunhoffer lines from their rest position, when you do the spectrum the light will be displaced, you jut need to measure by how much. (in a nut shell ish)

Nice spectra Roger. Are using RSpec to process your data.
