After the dewy night of Friday (great seeing), there was plenty of fog the following morning.  The Sun appeared around midday and the seeing was still very good.  I managed to capture AR12882 in all its glory using my 10" f/20 Maksutov, helped by the above.
Hope you like it.

Congratulations and well deserved Roberto, as I said on Astrobin, this was the image I was telling you on Saturday that I was so impressed with.

The Thing

They are both amazing pics. Well done Roberto.

What are you using as a white light filter? You've got some amazing detail in the convection cells.

RobertM

That's a really great result Roberto, excellent capture.

Thank you All!  Detail is down to seeing really.  With video cameras able to capture >100 frames per second, if the seeing cooperates, a good image comes out.

The filter is a simple Baader white light film filter covering the 10" aperture.  At the diagonal I had a (green) Baader continuum filter that came with my Herschel wedge.  It helps with contrast for the convection cells.
