Not quite sure what is happening at the November DSC Mike, some of the members seem to be doing an UDSC in memory of Mick, I myself will be at Kelling, so not sure how many people will be doing the November DSC.

Watch the forum for the November DSC.

Carole

I'll see how it goes nearer the time.

On current weather forecasts I am planning to go tomorrow (Thursday), Friday is looking better, so who is still coming?  I won't have internet connection once I am there so won't know who has replied.

There is a strong auroral forecast for Friday, though doesn't currently look like it will come this far down south, but you never know.  Also an interesting conjunction early hours Saturday morning, of Venus, Mars, Jupiter and the crescent Moon.

STOP PRESS,

I've managed to get the weekend off....................
Do we need to let cairds know that we are coming down and are part of the OAS group?

Carole

Just turn up Mac and pay.  Can't quite remember the price, but it's something in the region of £11 ish per night inc hook up.

I've got the prices off the owner Mac:

Tents are £10.00 per night.
Caravans and Motor Caravans  £12.00 per night.
Normally the use of shower is an additional  £2.00 per night but we include it for your group.
The glamping Pod for your group is £40.00 per night  (normal price  £50.00).

Hi All.
Members of my group who are due down to the October Deep Sky Camp today/tonight have raised concern over the cloud cover this evening which is apparently due to be over 70%:

Would anyone have any other info that might suggest that visibility for stargazing might be better than this for the evening?
I appreciate that you guys may been on-site without online access, but was just hoping to get some more info to persuade the guys that it is worth the journey, as they are being put off by the weather forecast I'm afraid (and I reckon the England Rugby match is also serving as a factor as well!)
At the moment, I think the consensus with my group is to skip the October DSC, and keep an eye out for the weather for the November DSC.
Have a great rest of the weekend All ! - Hope you got some good observing last few nights which seem to have been much better.
Best Rgds,
Dave Stewart

The forecast for tonight is cloud.  Having said that, the Met Office website showed cloud for lunar elipse night. So who knows? It'll probably be a beer, wine and Pastis evening.

Definitely I'd say. A major component of a successful DSC :)
