If a story is about an astronomical event Society members might like to observe then please post it in Alerts! Questions? Discussions... instead.

It's probably better to post "funnies" to Chat right from the start...

If a message generates a lot of discussion then the discussion may well be split out and moved to an appropriate alternative section.

When posting, please:

• Put the headline (or a clear accurate alternative) into the subject.
• Quote a few lines of the story or give a brief synopsis of the video (so that there's something for the forum's search engine to find, and to help readers choose whether to follow the link).
• Follow that with a link to the story or video.
• Put further stories on a particular subject into replies rather than as threads of their own.

Please do not hot-link^*1 images (using the IMG tag) from media sites. Post about the story instead, and send folk to the source to see the images.

Please use the url= form of the URL tag for long URLs, thus:
