Benchmark

Ok here's a question for you all. After veiwing umpteen clips on immaging are there any recognised colour/level accepted benchmarks to aim for at the end of processing.

I'm assuming you are referring to the final output rather than on a CCD as that's a more in-depth debate.

When I first started I was forever getting it wrong, but now I follow the rule get the background and star colours right and the rest falls in place. If you find yourself spending lots of times adjusting the histograms in photoshop you've probably got something wrong in the earlier processing.

I know others manage but I always struggled with DSS, I've found things got better when I moved my processing to AstroArt5 (other products are available).
