Julian,

I love the second image, I think its the first composite image put on the forumn, very good.  And if its not a compisite, its excellent.

oh Julian, what a difference since you changed equipment! Bet you are well pleased, they are great. Second one is similar to the one that was in the finals of SKy @ Night Photographer of the year
It is healthier to be mutton dressed as lamb, than mutton dressed as mutton!

Lovely M42 - you've processed it very well, combining the short and long exposures.  What filter(s) are you using?

Your second image is very intriguing.  I'm trying to work out how you did it.  However I'm pretty sure that the Milky Way isn't visible down to the horizon at Five Arches!  Must be a well-executed composite.  Nice one!

Here's a diagram of the camera and filters used for M42 Mark

why the clear glass filter Julian?

Mac

Also is the Antares ALP a light polution filter as well?
If so why the two light polution filters.

That's a very good noise free M42 Julian, that combination is looking really good.  Did you use DDP or some non-linear stretch in the processing?

That's a nice interesting composite, it must have taken you a while to get that right?
