Trifid, Lagoon, M21 taken from Beachy Head on Saturday night (12 June 2010)

12 x 5min exposures
H-alpha modified Canon 350D on Tak Epsilon 180ED with IR/UV filter only.

The long(!) exposures burnt out the core on the Lagoon which rather limited my options in processing this.  Well here it is, warts and all:

That's lovely Mark,  the Trifid is one of my favourite nebulae. 
So many stars, the idea of going to a south facing seafront was a good one.

The lagoon is good too despite not having your shorter exposures.

So did you take the CLS filter out Mark?

I didn't use the CLS filter because it would filter out too much of the blue reflection nebulosity in the Trifid.  Being so low in the sky the atmosphere was already filtering out too much blue anyway.    I also wanted all the colours to look natural - especially the Milky Way.  In my experience the Milky Way looks truly horrible through a CLS filter - just like galaxies do.

The lagoon looks like a tricky one because of it's brightness, maybe you should be taking more shorter exposures (generally) ?
