I stuck this in the gallery under clouds etc.
This goes to show how much light pollution is created over the Swanley area.

This is looking from the Ford in Eynsford past the Plough pub. The clouds and pollution are over towards Swanley. The pollution comes from a Golf driving range (One of the 2 in Swanley).

Lovely photo Simon, but boy that light pollution is bad over Swanley.

I'll do a 1 second on at my house at the weekend :-) I think Daniel also has bad pollution.

I like driving my car through the water there :-)

Daniel

Hehehe, yes, im tempted to do a 1 second at the back of my house too, especially interesting since the people over the back from me seem to have felt it neccesary to install a security light that doesn't turn off! :(

:O)

Ugh. I hope they get a nasty shock when their next electricity bill arrives...

I wash the underside of mine too through that. Unless some numpty in a BMW 3 series or a Ford Fiesta has tried to get through impressing his mates/girlfriend. I love schadenfreude

It's strange how peeps like to turn and stare when a car goes through it :)

Quotenumpty in a BMW 3 series

Hey, who are you calling a numpty ...

Last time I went through there was in a mates car, we got stuck halfway and had to get out and push it out !  That really impressed the female audience at the pub  :)

Ian

there's that lovely schadenfreude again, thanks Robert :)

How deep was the water then?

Simon E

As I am a local i drive this through the ford, flooded the car once, and had to wait 20 mins for it to dry out.

But much more fun driving the other half's through

:o

Ian

now, I suspect that's not you driving your missus' Vitara through the Eynsford Ford is it?

Simon E

No, she would kill me if I drove it like that, having said that I have. It's black and does make a big Bow wave, when driven hard through the Ford.

Talking of light pollution, you might be interested in this image:

It uses Google Earth to show some campsites against the F152003 light pollution overlay from  http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/dmsp/global_composites_v2.html

If clear this weekend, I might give Romney Farm or Norwood farm a trial on Saturday night.  I know Chris has already been there.

I use to sea fish off Romney marshes near the power station. It was always pretty dark down there, let us know how dark it is and what kind of viewing you get. Might have to try some of these sites myself , I'm sure i have a little two man tent somewhere. :o
