I have used this several times before with no difficulty, but last night after finally getting a video of Saturn (at Mike's Astro-imaging session last night), I was not able to process it because when I clicked on part of Saturn for aligning the images it would only make a box to the right, or to the left of Saturn and when I tried to delete unwanted frames it crossed out the box instead of the whole frame.  When it was finally stacked all I got was a stack of black sky!!!!

I also tried planetary wizard but that did not improve the situation, tried aligning the centre of the image instead but gave up at 2am.

Does any-one who has experience of the processing procedure in version 1 know what the problem is?
I am wondering whether the image is not sharp enough.

Also, does any-one know how I can delete a number of frames so I don't have to tick each one as Saturn drifted out of view before the end of the video.  (I must not take such a long video)

I am also wondering whether I should get another version of K3.

Thanks
Carole

Well done on getting some video!

Sorry I don't know about K3.
But Registax will definitely do what you want (as long as you have an AVI and not an MPEG).

Carole, sorry, I am out of practice with K3 & have version 3 anyway. I may try it tomorrow evening for the Moon.

It is healthier to be mutton dressed as lamb, than mutton dressed as mutton!

k3 doesn't allow you to put any part of the alignment box outside of the image. Perhaps try a smaller alignment box?

Jim had a go at trying to stack my image for me but encountered the same problems as I had and we had to give up and use Registax in the end.  We are assuming it's a problem with K3 and not us as it did some very weird things when we were trying to process it.

So hopefully my first stacked image of Saturn attached.  Must try to get an image with the barlow next time.
Am making SLOW progress but at least it's progress.  This was taken at Mike's last Imaging session on 8.2.08.

I feel very humble compared to some of the other wonderful images being produced by other beginners, hopefully I will get there in the end.

Hope I've managed to post the image this time.

Edit: Image link fixed...

Nope.  I followed Rick instructions and placed the URL between the (IMG) at each end and it still doesn't post.

Anyway if it's doesn't come out this time

Edit: That's the gallery page within which the image is displayed. You need to put the actual image URL between the tags. You can find that by using your browser's "Copy image location" (or something like that) option. Your image is actually here:

it probably is you (or rather a lack of understanding of what and how it does what it does), but if it's a bug, I'm sure the author would like to know about it. I can take a look at the agm if you like.

In the meantime, your image:

I would be pleased if you could, as I don't like things to beat me.  He tried to process it in Version 3 as well but still encountered problems.

Maybe it's a faulty file rather than the software, and yet Registax managed to do it OK.

I already E MAILED the author about this but have not had a response.
