SC3, M13 & M15

Went into garden last night, & capture window on K3 was still playing up. Not a lot on the screen.  While in a state of frenzy, I messed about with this that & the other, until after 30 minutes it clicked into ok mode.

I got M13, a longer exposure & M15. Did 2 sequences of M15, as clouds came & went, please, how do I combine the two AVI's?
Ok, but need more practise at bringing the best of the detail out.

I forgot to put amp off but considering I was on the verge of changing my hobby to knitting, that was a small sacrifice.

Am I right in thinking that 2" CLS filters are 3 times the price of a 1.25?

Hi Fay,

Congratulations on getting it all working. To process more than one Avi with registax when you go file open just hold down the ctrl key & click on the avi's you want to open... K3 will then open them all - just make sure you pick the same alignment star in each avi when asked by Registax.

I bought a 1.25inch cls for £49 & a 2-inch for £99 - not tried the 2-inch with the EOS yet. Best price is from Bernd at Modern Astronomy.

can't believe how expensive those 2" filters are.

I like your M15 & M34. Not sure if my M15 is good enough to show. I will have to learn how to put images on forum via Flickr.

When I put my text onto the image, I have to change it from 16 bits to 8 bits. I am thinking this takes quality away.

I was going to have another go at M34, tonight, Hope the capture screen does not play up again. I think the results will be better when the moon has calmed down.

So your images from the Canon did not have a filter on?

I didn't image M34 - I did the double cluster in Perseus - NGC 884 & 869... Anyway I'm sure your M15 is fine so lets see it ... All the images I display are 8-bit Jpeg's - normally I try & process in 16-bit but then convert to 8 bit for display/ web etc. Converting to 8-bit shouldn't really make much difference for display (especially B&W images).. I can't remember but I may have used my inexpesive 1.25 inch Moon & Skyglow filter on some of my eos images ...?

no wonder my M34 did not look like any of the pictures of the double cluster, I have been getting confused on this one, I was thinking it was the double. So my M34 is probably not so bad. I was thinking I must have not got the main part on the chip.

Hi all,
well where do I start, with all the images flying around and great images they are too, from Chris's M27 and John's M103, the few which have impressed me are Fay's which are on the OAS Gallery, which I didn't even know were there until I was told tonight, and I was lucky I was told as I would have been waiting even longer to see the results, and may I say Fay that you have come on leaps and bounds.
Looks like being the only one now with just a webcam, I'll just have to sit and watch all the great stuff that passes through the site until the planets come around again or I spend some money that I don't have on an SC3 or SBIG (only joking about the SBIG).

I have got a couple more images, but I cannot recognise them, I think that the main part of the subject must be off the chip!!!
I do keep looking at your gallery site to see if you have done any more, perhaps you can do the Moon, that is what I want to do a couple of.

Hi Fay,

There very good, I've looked at them with my 1st images and there a whole lot better, and you seem to be able to focus quite well which is the key thing.

Try little longer exposures say 30 seconds next time, the mount you have has low enough PE to allow this, that way you will get deeper?

Anyway well done, I look forward to the EOS pictures next week...
