This was a tour de force, as don't get much practice with comets.  Fast moving too so could not get longer than about 2 mins without trailing the comet.

I decided to use simultaneous DSLR and Mono Luminance on a dual set up in order to capture it quickly given the speed of it's movement.

Stacking however was another matter, but I finally found a tutorial on You tube on how to do comet mode stacking in DSS, but with 100 files in DSLR and a further 24 in Lum that was quite a marathon.  Also added coloured stars back in to the final image.

It's noisy in the DSLR colour and it is times like this which remind me why I changed to a cooled camera.

Anyway, for what it is worth:
100 x 30secs DSLR (Canon 1100D)
24 x 2mins Lum with Atik460EX on ED72
Total imaging time 50 mins + 48mins = just over 1 1/2 hours

Stacked in DSS comet mode

Really good Carole!  I know the Moon made this a difficult shot and processing a comet is a hassle but that's a good result.

Thanks Roberto.

Glad you gave me the shove.
