Can't believe my old scope got this much detail. I have cleaned the optics, rotated the mirror on its mount as it had some markings I hadn't noticed before, collimated, reduced the focal ratio from f30ish to f18 as recommended by AstroSurfaces calculator. The results are worth it.

Great result!  I like AstroSurface a lot.

We've had nothing but clouds and poor seeing here.  I was hoping tonight was going to be good but the forecast is deteriorating already...

Roberto

Mac

very nice,

just itching to get all set up down here...

Thanks Roberto and Mac.

If anyone can explain the green patch without mentioning martians and canals... If I try to adjust it out all the other colour goes screwy. I don't know it's a low area. Maybe mist?

Roberto

It's clouds.  Your colour balance maybe off. They appear white-blue on most images.  I have seen them through the eyepiece in my 10" Mak.   This apparition they are quite prominent and move a lot; particularly over the north pole.

See this picture taken by a guy in Florida with a 16" newtonian and exceptional seeing.
