Crescent Nebula and 'Soap bubble'

It's been a long road (you wouldn't believe just how long) getting an image out of this scope but finally it's starting to produce results.  It's still not perfect since the scope was sliding off the tube rings (see Caroles post earlier today) ever so slowly, leaving stars elongated.

Thats looking pretty good,

I'd be chuffed to bits with that one.

If that's not quite right then I'd be really blown away but the 'right' version! Really super details and range of tone. And mono, saves all that colour balancing lark :)

That's a really good result!  A fantastic Crescent and lots of faint detail in the background.  I love the Soap Bubble as well.  That f/3 scope certainly catches those photons!  You have to look really hard to see the elongation you refer to.

Thanks very much.  I wasn't expecting the frames to stack like they did but MaximDL seems to excel in these circumstances.  For now I've gone back to the original scope fitting to see what that's like now the Feathertouch is fitted and if that works then I'll go with that.

What I really want now is a dark site :)

Wow Robert - very nice. And like you say its been a while - I didn't even know you had this scope - when did you get this? All I can say is top notch photo from a top notch scope/ camera - the bubble is very prominent & loving all the dust clouds - this is my kind of image - just a shame I cant get results like this myself..

A very classy image Robert. Nice to see you imaging again.

Thanks John.

I've had it or rather this is the second for about a year (don't ask !).  I still have an issue with orthagonality of the camera at the lower part of the frame but I'm going to have another go at sorting that out this w/e.  Upgrading the (sub) standard focuser for an autofocused Feathertouch has made focusing a breeze; before it was a bit hit and miss which doesn't take any prisoners at this focal ratio.

Hang on where and when did the RH200 come into play.

Not a bad image either.

Because I've always had trouble finding a parking space in Bromley

Small point, but do people know how difficult it is getting the bubble, esspecially with blue.
