I'm prototyping my Observatory build in google sketch up and I'm struggling to get the application to raise the central section of my roof by 500mm.

I've tried following this tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1QFmdZaZLE&list=PL38D0A996E0154E12 but I can't get the square in the centre of the roof to rise in the vertical plane only in the horizontal plane. I'm not sure whether it is down to the fact my ridge line doesn't connect with the vertical walls or it's just an error on my part.

Thoughts, ideas, suggestions?

I can provide the sketch up file to anyone if interested.

How about copying the octagonal floor, reduce its size and position it in the location of your "square" roof.

Do away with the square roof and use an octagon or simply end in a point.
Growing Old is mandatory - Growing Up is optional

The design of the roof is intentional to replace the need of a dome. The plan to make the top and one side square removable and the roof will rotate.

Having square sections within the roof line it will make it easier to automate the shutter later.

Found out how do it I needed to use the alt key as well (not documented Hmmm).
