As most of your know the wind made imaging virtually impossible at Kelling, plus I was struggling with an unfamiliar mount (my spare for DSC) which turned out to have a loose motor and so even when I got it going guiding was off the graph and so I ended up doing unguided M51.

I wasn't going to post this but comparing it to my previous first try at M51 (pre mod), there is a remarkable difference in the data obtained and this surely has to be down to the nice dark skies at Kelling (Mark has been impressing the difference dark skies make, but proof of the pudding and all that).

This is my M51 image done July 2010 - 24 x 5min subs (2 hours) from Bromley (+ lots of processing)

This is what I got Sunday night Kelling Heath 3rd April 2011 - 13 x 30 secs (6.6 minutes) unguided

Very noisy I know, but amazed to get this from just 6 1/2 minutes of 30 sec subs.  Tracking not good either probably due to same loose motor problem.
