DDP Settings. (getting bulls eyes for stars)

Robert,

what setting are you using for your  DDP?
The reason I ask is if i remember correctly you use something like this.

Using user option with the settings of

121
111

click on the auto to get a starting value, and then adjust the two setting obtained so that the curve is more central.

Every time i try using this I get bulls eyes in the larger stars,

any ideas.

Hi Mac,

I use this:

I also start off (with histogram visible) with auto + auto (which always clips the low end) then change to manual (all unchecked) and subtract enough to ensure there's a clear gap at the bottom and add a bit at the top (not so important).  If you don't leave a big enough gap at the bottom then there isn't enough bottom end room for sharpening and it clips later in processing.  I generally leave a gap of 150 for a cooled camera and 25-50 for a dslr but you get to know with practice what fits your kit.
