Perusing as you do and came across this site.

I think that's one of the pieces of software Tom Boles uses to discover supernovae while he's asleep.

If I remember rightly, it ain't cheap  :(

If you use Maxim the Pinpoint might be a better option and (possibly) cheaper.  TPoint is what a lot of professional observatories use so I guess it must be good.

The Thing

PinPoint works out exactly where your scope is pointing from the stars and then corrects the pointing to where it should be pointing. T-point models all the duff bits in your scope/mount/imaging train and applies corrections depending on where you decide to point the scope so it points to the right spot in the first place. I would rather have the second option but can't legitimately afford either!  :-?

Sorry I meant MaxPoint from Cyanogen which comes with the MaximDL Pro Suite.  It can do all the above and with this plugin can correct for tracking errors.  Guider free tracking... hmmm, that would be nice !
