OK after the previous night's 'Horsehead taster' I decided to give it a proper go last night. I went for a slightly wider FOV & used my Atik with the WO ZS66. Grabbed approx 1hr 30mins in 4min subs with Ha filter before trees got in the way.. Guided with PHD. No darks or flats (I love the atik as I don't seem to have to take darks...)

I'm really pleased with how this came out.. I definitely want to get some RGB - that little blue nebula at bottom left is just waiting to be coloured in..... :-)

Anyway - let me know what you think?

John.

Superb image John. Lovely focus. I can't wait to see the RGB version :)

Well I'd be happy with it mate... I think a little colour would be nice.

Did you ever attempt the HH with your SC3?

JohnP

Cheers Mike & Ian - Yep can't wait to try the RGB - I guess the issue will be getting orientation/ alignment the same....

Ian - yes I took a couple. One with the SC3 through the MN56 (this was actually at Tuesnoad) & one with a .5X FR on the WO. You can see them on webpage... http://homepage.ntlworld.com/john.punnett/ To be honest neither of them compare with the one I took last night.. The problem with the SC3 was that even with the AmpOff Mod there was still significant Ampglow after about 2-3mins... You need to be imaging for longer than this with an Ha filter... The atik is great - zero ampglow - very little noise - no hot pixels & much more sensitive due to cooling & 16bits... I should have made the effort & tried this at DSC on the Friday night :-(

Anyway in case you can't tell I'm in Smug mode... :-)

Cheers,  John
