M31 The Great Andromeda Galaxy from Tuesnoad

I had a very bad start at Tuesnoad. I like to polar align while the sky is quite light as when at a location such as Tuesnoad, once it gets dark, there are so many stars it is hard to recognise which is which. I had a lot of trouble doing it, one of the reasons being, that the tripod was in the mud & I found it hard to manouvre to get into the correct position. I did also start M42 but the Canon battery ran out, as did my car battery & Mick, kindly lent me his earlier on.
As with the other two, this was taken with the Canon 350 D. I need to try Tony G's focal reducer on it, next time, as the edges can go a bit funny. Also I wished I had positioned the galaxy diagonally for better effect & then I could have cropped the edges.

lovely images and hopefully now John has shown me the light so to say, i can move up to the next level and take some image other than the moon and planets.
The comet and M45 also have turned out great. Well done.

THanks Tony. I hope you put what you got at the weekend, on the forum. When I go outside again, I think Tuesday evening looks favourable, I am going to use your FR/flattener with the Canon. I had better hurry up as I think you will really be taking off with your imaging soon.

I have been practising processing tutorials most of the day. With Practical Astronomer, they do a tutorial every month & you can download the images they used & do it yourself together with the instructions in the mag.

Glad you all got home ok. Hopefully the weather will be a lot better next time.
