A couple of Test Shots with the Nikon D70

These were taken with the D70 on my 8"f6. No post-processing has been done other than resizing and preparing them for the forum, they're just really test shots. Next time it's clear, I'll have another go...

That's pretty impressive. With a flat field subtraction that M42 would be pretty darn good.

I've now had a chance to play with this a little, in Maxim and Photoshop. I think there's some promise here, although I'm now wondering about filters...

An Astronomic UHC seems to be a good one for the DSLR's or the Hughtec IDAS, but they are £120.

But you are right, thats very orange?

I happen to have an astronomics UHC but my eyepiece adaptor isn't threaded. I'm going to try and pick up a 2" one at astrofest (but probably not a 2" UHC).

The sky wasn't particularly transparent that night and it was within 30 degrees of a waxing gibbous moon (as demonstrated by the first pic...). I could clearly see the shadow cast by my kit on the ground. Generally though, I find I end up processing out sky glow :(
