Title: Abell 1656 - The Coma Cluster (of galaxies) - LRGB
Post by: Roberto on May 04, 2022, 13:41:54
Hello

I completed this one a few days ago but only had  a chance to finish processing it last weekend.  It is the Coma (Galaxy) Cluster in Coma Berenices.  The largest centre elliptical galaxies are NGC 4874 and 4889.  Over  9,900 objects (non stars) are visible in the LRGB frame.  Check the annotated versions (one without PGC galaxies to see the NGC objects alone):

https://www.astrobin.com/ly2kkh/E/ (https://www.astrobin.com/ly2kkh/E/)

Some IFN seems to be visible in both the L and (by construction) in the LRGB images.

A total of 18hrs of integration:  9hrs in L and 9hrs in OSC RGB through my tandem setup.

There's a galaxy within this cluster that has an extremely active galaxy nucleus:  http://simbad.cds.unistra.fr/simbad/sim-id?Ident=%402031857&Name=Mrk%20%20%2060&submit=submit (http://simbad.cds.unistra.fr/simbad/sim-id?Ident=%402031857&Name=Mrk%20%20%2060&submit=submit)

I do like a galaxy cluster, they are so unbelievable, all those trillions of stars! Very nice Roberto.

Lots of galaxies in there! I find images of galaxy clusters to be quite awe-inspiring.
