Title: LDN1251 Anglerfish Nebula
Post by: Carole on Apr 04, 2022, 12:22:37
Taken at the OAS DSC at Cairds over the weekend,  It was bitterly cold and windy on the Thursday night, but the wind died down just in time on Friday.

Been wanting to get this target for some time, but needed darker skies.  Unfortunately this image was looking into the LP of Tunbridge Wells @ SQM: 20.63 whereas looking in the opposite direction (south) it was SQM: 21.39 (Taken on phone App Dark Sky Meter)  Still better than Bromley though.

Taken over 2 nights.

Lum 47 x 600  7 hours 50mins
RGB 9 x 300 binned x 2 each total 2h 15mins
Atik460EX and SWED80
EFW Baader LRGB
Taken over 2 nights

Total imaging time 10 hours 5mins

Very nice image Carole. Star colours look great. Difficult target to image, but the dark nebulae is resolved well.

Clear Skies,

GW

Have commented elsewhere but its a really nice outcome with your new data.

Thanks Garrick.  Yes it is not an easy target.

Thanks Roger, this is not new data, it's the first time I have imaged it, apart from when it entered the same FOV as a widefield of the Shark, but too small to do anything with.

A wonderful image - almost three-dimensional.  Well done Carole.

Slight Tweak to the processing, to show up a little more dust.

The star colours are great and the background dust looks good.  Nice processing.
