Title: Faint galaxies
Post by: RobertM on Mar 01, 2022, 20:33:52
Have been trying to get some colour in faint galaxies without much success and also trying to find out what the faintest galaxy is but all my catalogs run out at Mag 20.  Anyone know of catalogues with going down to mag 21 or more.

Have tried Aladin

Thanks
Robert

Cartes du Ciel has many catalogues available with many going beyond magnitude 21.   PixInsight/Render/Annotate script also allows you to download/use galaxy catalogues for very faint objects.  The sources are shared with what you can find in Aladin.

I am not sure about galaxies, but Peter Shah has a system of getting correct broadband colour balance in stars, so I would have thought it would apply to anything else in the Deep Sky.  I have contact with him if you need it.

Thank you Roberto, I didn't realise I could add catalogues to the PI annotator but I'll try that.

Thank you Carole but that won't be necessary.
