Title: Hot in the city - Full disc, proms, AR12827 - Ha and CaK

What a scorcher today!  At last I managed to get some solar images for us to remember how it looks when it's shinning!

Love all of them but in particular the animation, you can see the coronal loops forming and flashes of small CMEs.

Thank you Carole!  Yes, the animation throws surprises when least expected.  None of these features were immediately apparent when I was acquiring the frames.  Unfortunately seeing deteriorated as the morning progressed but overall I'm happy with what can be seen.

Agree with Carole!  The animation is great and seeing the Coronal Loops forming is amazing!

Thank you Hugh.  I should have stayed on it as this was only over 1hr (1000 frames every 30 seconds), but my hard disk was filling up fast!

Love the CME animation, especially as that was one of my papers for my degree, explanation of CME's. So i know exactly what is happening there.

Nice images.

Mac.

Cool....or rather HOT Mac.  You should do a presentation to the Society about them.  I'm sure I'd really enjoy hearing more about it!
I did (theoretical) physics myself and did some solar physics in one of my astronomy courses.  It was with Douglas Gough of the IoA at Cambridge; he is one of the pioneers in helio-seismology.

Thank you Julian.  There's always something to see in Ha.  The good news is that all these ARs are in the northern hemisphere of the Sun, hopefully announcing the new solar cycle has arrived.
