Title: Virtual Light box
Post by: Carole on Apr 28, 2013, 14:13:58
I just heard a good tip of a programme you can download so you can turn your computer screen into a flat's screen.  This is better than note pad as it not only fills up almost the entire screen, but also had a scroll up/down facility in the corner so you can make the screen lighter or darker as required.

I just tried it with my Artemis capture software in the background and it works well.

Only problem is my laptop screen is not big enough for the Newtonian.  So I then thought of using my desktop monitor and attach it to the laptop, but unfortunately that has a blemish in the middle so would have to process that out.  Also will have to make a cover for it at DSC so it doesn't cause LP. Anyway, I thought it was too good a tip not to share.

If you go to this website and click on the zip file at the bottom of the first post you can download it.

so would you would have to do them the next day as it would be difficult to shield such a large screen from everyone?

If at camp, you would have to put a large bag around it or something.  At home it wouldn't matter.

I guess you could do them the next day though if you haven't moved the optics.

I'm certainly going to give it a whirl at home.

i would think it would be difficult, if doing on the night, to get the scope and screen together because of cables etc etc
