This picture won't win any awards - I just had to grap a camera and take it.
Canon 600D ISO 800 30sec 55mm f/5.6

Taken a few minutes later (just before the comet hit the twigs near the fence).

Image scaled down and cropped.

Just like the view I had this evening from Hayes...
...except that all I could see behind that tree was cloud. Very fine cloud; excellent opacity, and with the perfect degree of sodium glow...
Nice one Mark at least you captured it - Great - John
Here is a rough animated gif of the comet taken from Kelling Heath last week.

Nice one Mike
Very nice
What was the duration ?
I think it was 5 mins. I didn't do any flats or darks though.
Quite a bit of movement for 5 minutes, I'd expected longer.
Lucky to get 5 minutes of clear sky though ;)
Very nice animation Mike.
I have yet to image a comet, fingers crossed for comet ISON.
