Title: Sun Today
Post by: julian on Jan 01, 2013, 18:39:00
Happy New Year to everyone.

Had a look at the sun today with my modified PST.
There was a lot of prominences  so I thought I would have a go with my newish webcam guider qhy5l-ii mono.  Once it was all set and ready to go - yes you guessed it, the cloud came over.
Waited for about ten minutes and the cloud thinned out so I could get focus. Once the cloud parted a bit I started to record and by this time the software froze so I rebooted the laptop.
Started up qhy5l-ii capture software, pressed record got 1000 frames then the clouds came back so I packed up. So all I got was one AVI file.

Setup
Modified Orion 80mm ED scope, modified PST, 1 1/4 focal reducer, qhy5l-ii mono camera, NEQ6 mount

Processed with RegiStax and Photoshop.

Great shot Julian, lovely detail on both the disk and prominences.
