Title: Dead 350D
Post by: mickw on Feb 10, 2012, 10:34:33
I am about to bin the Canon 350D I modified killed.

If anybody wants it for spares let me know.

It's got a Baader IR filter fitted but I buggered up a connector on the motherboard which I don't think can be replaced - sensor and the rest should be OK

What exactly is the damage Mick? It might be repairable.

A ribbon cable connector on the mainboard did have a locking bar that secured the ribbon cable - it went airborne never to be seen again.
Tape and or wedging the cable with paper does not work.

This was the second time I'd had the camera apart, the first time It just didn't work, so I disconnected all cables and started again.

The connector that's buggered is at the bottom left as viewed from the back with the case removed.

Don't throw it away.  I'll be interested in it for spares.

You can purchase those connectors. it might be possible to desolder the broken one and replace it.
