Title: Orion from DSC
Post by: julian on Nov 29, 2011, 20:04:06
Orion from Rother Valley.

It has taken me two days to process this image because I have only got 10x5 min subs.
Image details:
Canon modified 40D
Canon 24 to 105 lens
28mm, ISO 800, F5, 300 seconds
Camera mounted on an astrotrac

I have put the trees in to hide the sky gradients due to the camera tracking
the stars and creating a blurred image of the oak tree.
The trees were taken at Weymouth.

Nice one Julian, not sure if I prefer the blurry tree version though

Very Nice Julian, you've got the Barnards loop and a nice Rosette as well.  Just goes to show how big the Rosette actually is.

That's a great Orion with quite a distinct Barnard's Loop. I really like the Rosette sitting there - it puts it into context.

Well done Julian!!! What happened to the trees you were taking at Rother?
