Title: Serial - USB adapter/driver
Post by: mickw on Feb 08, 2011, 18:20:35
Should each serial - USB adapter have it's own driver installed or will the adapters each use the same driver ?

I have installed Prolific driver for one adapter and want to use an additional adapter and have lost the second driver disk.

I'm assuming both use a prolific driver which I still have for the first adapter.
I don't want to f### things up if the drivers are adapter specific  :-?

Depends on the chipset. There's two main sorts I have come across, Prolific and the FTDI. Try the FTDI website. All my single serial adaptors use FTDI, my four connector usb lead is Prolific.

Thanks Dunc, If I'd bothered to check the Maplins website where I got it, I would have found the link to the Prolific driver
