Title: EQ6
Post by: Fay on Sep 20, 2010, 18:47:25
Have ordered SW EQ6 today. Then I will be able to take the 5 to DSC, so won't gave to keep taking it off the pier. Also, will be able to image from the patio, with the 5, for a different aspect

Skywatcher?

Nice buy, Fay. I've seen this fella at prices up to about £1000. You going to let slip where you ordered it from?

Are you planning to leave the mount out permanently?

I got it from Bern, asked him to match a price & he did. Yes it will be out, once on the pier I will not take it off. I will have the problem of condensation, at certain times of the year, but I will have to get over it

nope i've not seen one cheaper, but i was going down the same route as you.
Once i've got the pier and EQ6 set up, that is, its not coming off.

So at the light polluted DSC :cheesy: sessions i'll just be taking Binos
untill i can get a new mount.

Mac.

I already have such an arrangement and have to confess that I'm a bit unsure as to the possible condensation consequences. The late Henry Hatfield overcame the problem by mounting a small tungsten filament light bulb in his external pier mounted heliostat.  I'm hoping that putting some walls around mine will help.

Also I have had to buy a new mount plate, the aluminium top that the mount attaches to pthe pier via, which is £88. Condensation is going to be a worry. I have tried everything, in certain conditions, & not come up with a good answer yet

I've done the same thing and bought a 2nd Mount off Robert so I have one for DSC and one for the Pier.

Do you think if you was to sell yours to me for £250 once it is delivered, I could take Bern up on his price match promise?

Just a thought!

Hi,

Its a shame you are not EQModding, you would not need the hand controller and could have had a mount for £790 or less.
