Title: QSI and 6x7 lens setup
Post by: Rocket Pooch on Aug 23, 2010, 12:30:42
Hi,

Ok on the hope its clear tonight I have put the 6x7 lens on the QSI with the adaptors, this setup is very small. But I guess I just need to see if it works.

If you've checked infinity focus then what could possibly go wrong !

What f-stop will you use the lens at, or is that something you'll determine tonight?

Hi Robert,

I have used the lends on my SLR and the spacing with spacers if the same, infinity is just under the infinity on the lens so I should be ok.

My camera will not image at less than F4 without vingnetting with the 1.25" filters, I'd need un-mounted ones to image at F2.8.  So its going to be F4 I guess?  Should be an intersting exercise, the FOV of this setup is massive.  If it does work well then its likely this will be the main imaging setup when we go away, with the 8" in reserve.

Nice setup Chris - especially with the integrated guide cam!

Don't worry, if your hand controller is as friendly as mine, it'll inform you of the date on which it was last used when you switch it on

well I am trying mine out Chris. Remember at DSC I bought the wrong adaptor & could not reach infinity? Well I have  the right one now (i hope) also had the wrong one machined to the correct size. The threads were x5 each side of the skirt, it had to be x3 for the Atik side as not a very deep thread on it.

Would like to have gone outside with a trusted method, but this has to be done.

will you not support the lens?

I understand that there are voluntary organisations that exist to help one kick the hand controller habit ;)
