Title: Aluminium welding ?
Post by: RobertM on Jun 03, 2010, 21:39:02
Is anyone able to do aluminium welding?  I need a strong bracket made up and was thinking of getting some 10-15mm aly and getting it welded in an L shape.  Last time I tried welding that stuff it ended up looking a bit like swiss cheese :(

Thanks
Robert

Do you have a TIG, if so I'll do it.

Thanks for the offer Chris but I haven't and I may have found someone to do the work - fingers crossed.

I've used this stuff. It's the mutts...

Much easier than mig/tig and you can use a standard blow torch. The only proviso is that the prep needs to be done properly.

Thanks Ian, it's an interesting method but hopefully I won't need to go that route.

Metal is ordered now.
