Title: NGC2997 in Antlia
Post by: A.S.I.G.N_Baz on Jan 20, 2010, 15:13:16
19 x 10minute subs, darks and flats subtracted
ED120 APO
Orion Starshoot Pro III color CCD.

55 million light years away, this classic and very pretty spiral galaxy peeks at us through the thick veil of starry hosts in our home galaxy.

Small, but nice. Picked up a few faint fuzzies with it too so I am pretty pleased.

I don't like compressing them so much for the forums as they get pretty lossy so you can see a higher resolution version in my image gallery http://www.asignobservatory.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=73&Itemid=112

Nice shot Baz, it's your first on this forum for a while now.  Have you been hibernating down under?

Yes Robert, the moon and clouds have not been too kind in regards to photography, so I have been concentrating on lots of daytime stuff with the Canon. Landscapes, moving water and Macro on the local bugs.

Here's a taste if you like. I have been EXTREMELY busy.

Warm regards to everyone on the forum here.

Nice Baz, Literally skims the horizon from our latitudes... It's good to see images of objects we never have a chance to view - keep 'um coming & a great shot - John
