The dates for the 2010 Imaging Sessions are :-
Friday 12th February
Friday 9th April
Friday 11th June
Friday 6th August
Friday 8th October
Friday 3rd December
All start at 8:15 (no earlier please). Anyone is welcome.
I didn't think you were doing it any more Mike
I'm giving up the Observing Officers post but will continue to do the Imaging Sessions. Hopefully one or two people will offer to host one or two of the dates at their house, which would be appreciated. if not they'll be at mine as usual.
Pleased about that Mike, it would have been a great loss
Thanks Fay.
As usual, if you want a talk about anything astrophotography related then put your suggestions forward to me. I will need as much notice prior to the date as possible to organise anything. Thanks.
I wonder whether demonstrating the use of various imaging and stacking software might be useful, including some for those who are just starting out:
K3, Registax for example
DSS etc
Other capturing software for CCD cameras
Maxim etc etc
Just a thought.
Carole
I don't use K3 or Registax so I am no authority on those. I could demonstrate Maxim. Unless someone like Robert or Mark would be willing to give a talk on the use of K3 or Registax. It depends on what kinds of capturing you are referring to. K3 and Registax tend to be used more for planetary work (i think).
I could do a beginners talk on K3 if any-one wants it if there is no-one else more expert than me, but I'll need a bit of notice. I was just thinking if there was any-one planning on starting out it might be useful. I'm no expert but I can demonstrate the basics.
I would like to see Maxim demonstrated myself.
Also maybe a little bit of basic DSO processing would be interesting.
Carole
I could demonstrate MaximDL but not K3, that's someone elses forte...
OK so how about a short talk by both of you?
Carole - K3 for beginners
Robert - MaximDL
OK by me.
Carole
Not 100% sure I can attend yet but that'll be fine if I can.
OK Thanks Robert.
OH! XXXXXXX!!!!
I've completely forgotten I've got a concert on Saturday 13th and I got home this evening and found an E mail reminding us of the one and only run through, and as I am doing duets and ensembles, I have to be there.
I am happy to do the K3 talk at the following imaging session.
Really sorry, and disappointed.
Carole
I'm really sorry but I can't make it either. I have to attend a concert at the Fairfield Halls this Friday evening.
Let`s hope that the snow forecasted for this week holds off......... we do want to come to this imaging session and need to be able to get back up our little hill upon return.
I`ll have a word with the Main Man and see if He will stop the snow .............
Doug.
Would you guys like it to be rescheduled? If not a lot of people can make it then it might be a better option. I can reschedule for March.
I would rather you keep it Mike, if possible, as I wanted you to sort a couple of programs on my laptop.
Perhaps you can have a poll, although a lot of the regular attendees do not frequent the forum
It will probably be difficult for Rose and I, Mike. I have just heard that my son is going into hospital on Friday and we have to take him there so I don`t know if we will be back in time.
Doug.
So it sounds like a good percentage of the regulars won't be there so it makes sense to reschedule it to me.
Fay I can happily look at your laptop any other night next week.
To be honest, a reschedule would suit me anyway as I am away this weekend and would have needed to drive to Cheshire early Saturday morning for a relatives birthday party that night. If the night is rescheduled I can leave Friday.
thanks Mike
OK I am going to cancel this Friday's imaging session and reschedule it for some time in March.
I will get messages out to those I now usually come but don't use the forum (or read it often) via email. There was a young girl at the last meeting who came with her dad (one of the regulars) but I don't know the names of either so have no way of contacting them. Does anyone else know who I am referring to?
Mike,
I don't remember a young girl with her father so it's possible I was not at the last imaging session. However I have collected the names and E mail address of Dave Stewart and his daughter who are coming to Herstmonceux. They were at the last monthly meeting.
Could it be them?
If so I'll E mail his E mail address to you.
Carole
I meant the last meeting not the last imaging session. Yes I think it was him.
I'll E mail you his E Mail address.
Carole
Thanks
Is it ok to come down to the DSC if your not staying overnight?
Cheers Duncan
If people are just coming down for the evening, we normally still make a charge for DSC overheads, but coming down for the evening is in principal OK. Mike will clarify.
By the way, I think you added this to the wrong thread. This thread is about our monthly imaging sessions.

Yes it is. I am not sure a contribution is appropriate Carole as a) People are paying individual costs and b) We are not havign a communal meal. However, you are welcome to contribute a few quid towards the society coffers if you so wish. This forum for example costs a fair sum each year to run.
So who forgot to check their calendar lately? ;)
Please note that the Imaging Session on the 6th August will be held at Carole's house. Please PM Carole for her address or speak to her at the next meeting.
The Imaging Session set for the 8th October will now be held on Friday 15th October from 8:15pm onwards as it clashes with Deep Sky Camp.
Ian and/or Mick please annoucne this tonight at the meeting as I will not be there.
Rick - Please adjust the website.
Thanks.
Will do Mike thanks
And sorry
Done.
Cheers guys.
It's in my notes to the meeting tonight.
Don't forget, the next Imaging Session is this Friday from 8:15pm at my house.

I, for one, hope to be there.
Me too
Mick,
Bring along some 16bit Tifs of your raw stacks - we might get a chance to have a play ...
Mark

Hmm, Tifs on a stick - OK :)
Cheers
I'll bring round an avi of Jupiter, maybe someone can give me some registax pointers?
Perhaps we can have these little workshops up on the TV screen for us all to see rather than huddling round a laptop in the corner. I'm sure we would all benefit from the knowledge.
Cool 8)
Perfect 8)
Thanks for the imaging processing demonstrations by both Mark and Robert. Very interesting.
Mike,
Thanks to you and Cris for hosting us again!
Mark
Yes, many thanks to Mike and Cris for their hospitality. I don't know about anyone else but I found it a very useful evening.
Annoying I had to miss it. My husband had an op in the afternoon so he needed looking after.
Sorry for not sending advanced apologies Mike.
Carole
Thanks Mike + Cris
A very informative evening - Just got to try and remember stuff long enough to put it into practice

And long enough to show me what to do, the next time I see you. ;)

The last Imaging Session of 2010 will now be held on Friday 10th December from 8pm.
If the weather continues like it is at the moment up to Friday (likely) then I will cancel the imaging session this Friday.
isn't that *next* Friday?
Oh yeah. So it is. In which case it should be OK.
