Title: DMK will not connect
Post by: Fay on Oct 27, 2009, 17:34:24
My DMK camera is showing in device manager but has a yellow box with exclamation mark in it. The IC Capture program is not seeing the camera. Has anyone any ideas please?

THanks

i suspect that if there is a yellow thing with exclamation mark, the PC doesn't recognise it - try removing any DMK software then reinstall the software/drivers again after rebooting the PC

I have reinstalled, rebooted, a message did come up saying, hardware did not install properly. There is a code10. Do you know what that is?

It looks lie something to do with spikes.  :chase:
Sorry just had too do it.

Fay try booting the PC in safe mode and uninstalling the software,

then reboot and re-install the software, and then plug the camera in.

Mac.

er it means that your laptop is err F******ed

Right mouse click on the exclamation mark and click on disable
and then uninstall.

then uninstall the software using add/remove software and start again.

QuoteIt has installed & is ok on the desktop

But does it actually work ?

Is the DMK new ?
Did you follow installation instructions (OK I'm a fine one to talk), sometimes the software/drivers must be installed befor you plug anything in.

That could be something to try - unplug everything, restart PC, then plug in camera, then start software, then ring DMK  :(

Is it USB, are you using an old USB lead or a new one ?
Unplug leads and plug in again or try different lead or USB port - clutching at straws here  :(

The worrying thing is, Mike has my SX camera because that was not working on laptop. He is checking that cable

If I remember rightly, your SX lead was looking a bit mangled, did you try a new USB lead ?

I get a feeling your DMK lead may also be mangled

Fay,

have you got another computer you can install it on?

I have put it on desktop. It worked but now it won't so seems similar. I have read that if there is a yellow triangle, BIOS may need updating, but must not download wrong version. The camera must need this update, as b oth computers are not liking it.
I have not used it for quite a while. It worked intermittant, today on both computers.

I take it you installed the right drivers for the right operating system,  has the DMK website got any updated drivers etc.

Thanks Mike.

MIck, had this answer from Imagingsource, DMK cameras.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for your email. I would like to install the camera's driver again. Reinstalling IC
Capture does not change anything on device detection, but may be Windows has removed the camera's
driver. The driver is located on the CD ROM that came with your camera. Alternatively you can
download the driver from http://www.astronomycameras.com/en/support/downloads/

If the correct driver is installed, but the camera has a "Code 10" in the Device Manager, then I
suggest to try another USB cable. Often low quality USB cables cause a "Code 10" error.

In case the camera did not run the computer before, i.e. it is first time connected to the
computer, please make sure, the computer has an USB 2.0 HighSpeed port. If I did know your computer
model, I checked this on my own.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have tried new cable, downloaded drivers but windows says it is from Unknown Publisher & does not like it. Probably why it is not installing hardware properly, & I keep getting the warning, do I want to run it.

I hate to be going on about this but it is driving me nuts!!!!!! I am willing to pay if someone can sort it out for me.

Title: Re: DMK will not connect
Post by: mickw on Oct 28, 2009, 12:59:15
QuoteUnknown Publisher

It's not that "Driver Signing" thingy where windows sulks if it hasn't "approved" the driver
When the message comes up, you should have an option to install it anyway - do it !

If I'm right, the instructions should have told you to do this (sorry to mention the "I" word in mixed company)

Update on fays laptop..

Fu(&£d.

its got me stumped and thats saying something..

Open to offers.

1) Windows wont allow the device to be installed as the camera,
2) All drivers have been removed and reinstalled.
3) Forced the device to use the correct drivers & windows keeps changing the drivers back to different device.
4) Removed the drivers(latest ones and original), uninstalled the device, edited the registry to remove all traces of the device. Windows incorrectly installs the device as a USB hub!!!!!!!!!!!
5) tried again, and again, and again, (repeat until bored), still no joy, windows WONT allow the device to be installed as the camera, everything else but.....
6) Re-installing windows seems to be the only trick left.

any ideas.

Mac.

I had virtually the same thing with an external hub and got so fed up with it I reinstalled XP from scratch.  Not a single hiccup since then.  It's a big step and takes several days to get the thing fully back to a fit state to use but it worked for me.

Fay, will you be writing a book on this when you've finished  :boom:

Mac there's a lookup ini file that matches device ID to the drivers. It sounds like that might have been screwed up. I don't have time now to google, but you should be able to find a good copy either on another machine or in the install CABs.

Best of british.

Even the original disk wont install it as a camera, well actually it does, but windows then reinstalls it as something else.
